"Harper Lee, Ernest Hemingway, T.S Eliot and Arthur Miller... All fantastic writers and poets with very different styles, yet they all wrote books that made you think rather than ones that told you a story.... Intelligent people, but fun as well... In fact, Ernest Hemingway spent a lot of time in Paris as a young man and always said that living in Paris stays with you a lifetime as it is a 'moveable feast!!' Don't you just love it - no one speaks like that anymore!!
Going back to Harper Lee and this fabulous book that dealt with serious issues like racial inequality and mistreatment yet was told in a warm & humorous manner through the eyes of a 10 year old... I loved this book and cannot wait until our children are old enough to read and appreciate it... In fact, I remember when I first read it as a teenager I wanted to call my future son (if I ever had one - hey, I was very young at the time!!) Atticus after the moralistic lawyer - things you remember huh!!
Desks are a funny thing - like fabulous old books, they have become obsolete and indeed a luxury in many households... Buffets, drawers, coffee tables, even display cabinets are high on the priority list, and I understand that... But there is something so charming, so endearing, so nostalgic about sitting at a desk, at a window, contemplating with a glass of vino... We all just need that quiet place to just 'be..."
